“Because you know the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work that you may be mature and complete, not lacking in anything.” James 1:3-4
- We must be willing to believe God loves us deeply even in the threshing.
- We must be willing to recognize the long term value of threshing.
- We must be willing to yield our control to a loving father who wants to take us to safety.
Unlike the scared and frazzled bird on my porch, I know this situation will not be the last which threatens to cause me great inner turmoil. I also know even if it does, God will still love me tenderly and unconditionally. He won’t be found wildly running around swinging a broom in the air in an effort to direct my attention to the way out. He is in control of all that I cannot see, and He is in control of all that you cannot see.
What He desires is for us to stop thrashing and to start trusting. To start trusting in His unwavering love for us. To start trusting in His purifying plan for us. To start trusting in His perfect ways, even when we cannot see where they will lead.
Threshing is a good thing!
