There it stood, another entrance marker,
spread like a grand fan across the cypress boardwalk.
It dawns on me that I have been drawn
to an entrance once again.
I ponder the significance
of why I chose to venture this direction.
The shadow captures my attention
as it envelops the shield of green.
I duck beneath and settle in,
knowing this is my moment.
Rays of sunlight split the green folds,
revealing the the splendor of the sky.
The shadow offers a kind of surety
like a quiet, attentive companion.
I hear the soft whisper of rustling fronds,
urging me to be still and rest.
Closing my eyes, I exhale,
choosing to fully enter and abide in this moment.
The need to remember this place is strong
and I am moved by the pleasure of dwelling.
Tucked in, enfolded, sheltered,
one solitary moment of tranquility.
For this one serene moment, I am thankful,
safe, at peace and filled with contentment.
Perhaps this is the significance of another entrance
showing me the importance of entering in.
I must choose to abide, to remain,
and allow the shadow to offer me solace.
In choosing, I accept surrender,
in remaining, I find protection, grace and joy.
Perhaps this is the secret to ThanksLiving.
