It’s the first thing I notice in very person I meet, and it’s the first thing I want people to notice when they meet me. A smile says so much about a person.
With one smile we can tell if someone is open and friendly.
A person who smiles has greater power to influence others.
A smile can ease tension and usher in trust.
A smile welcomes, engages and persuades.
And, did you know….
Smiling is contagious.
Smiling uses less muscles than frowning.
Smiling releases hormones which cause happiness.
Smiling pushes away worry and promotes problem solving.
We all know first-hand how difficult goals are to reach. That there will be days when we don’t have the energy or will to take another step into our dream.
We’ve all experienced the setbacks, the frustrations, the missed timelines and unexpected distractions. And through it all, we always have a choice.
We can choose to allow our emotions to sit in the driver’s seat and sabotage our efforts to move toward our goal, or we can choose to smile, release the tension of the moment and allow ourselves to recoup and reset.
Choosing to smile is assuming power to change emotions and body language.
Choosing to smile is choosing optimism in place of pessimism.
Choosing to smile is choosing hope and peace and gratitude for every piece of the journey.
Do you have a goal to accomplish?
Perhaps the first step is to begin smiling!
Go ahead….try it. You have nothing to lose!
