After a week of life bombarded by horror and tragedy, we have all struggled to wrap our heads around how this life can be filled with so much pain and suffering. During times like these, when the weight of the world is too heavy to bear, I find myself desperate to seek out moments of goodness and kindness and joy.
And I’m guessing your soul needs the same. So today, we seek these moments together —
Where life is cherished, and laughter is un-containable. Where the smallest and least of these are honored and shown respect.
And the legacy of unconditional love is forged through years of beginning again.
Where unexpected grace abounds with no thought of profit beyond the pure joy that comes in the pouring out.
And the response to such grace leaves us warm and reassured at the truth that light always finds a way to pierce the darkness.
That goodness is uncovered in every simple act of opening our hands and hearts to others.
Where innocence embodies the art of giving sacrificially and yet never really views it as a sacrifice, because the call of the heart comes from a place of sincere and heartfelt compassion.
Where we are gifted those precious moments of irony – when leading the little child is really the little child leading us.
And opening our eyes to see the abundance of giving ALL for the sake of ONE.
Where giving up or leaving behind isn’t an option because the significance of one life is worth every attempt to restore.
Where going the extra mile isn’t about what it will cost but what it will yield…one more breath, one more moment of joy.
And one more piece of goodness to overshadow the darkest of moments.
To remind us of this one extraordinary piece of goodness —
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” ~John 16:33
To draw us in once again, to dry our tears and to fill us with hope for a better tomorrow. Where goodness and kindness and joy will always prevail.
And darkness will bow to Eternal Light.
