Investing the time for dreaming and visualizing our future is one of the good gifts we can give ourselves.
Every year, I spend the entire month of January doing just that.
Dreaming and brainstorming how I want to change and grow helps me anticipate, hope and birth more faith. Usually, it involves a vision board filled with pictures, quotes, scripture, and tangible items that draw my attention to the goals and changes I want to make.
I know I won’t accomplish everything on my board. I also know the things I do accomplish won’t go exactly how or when I planned. That’s not the point.
The point is to intentionally move forward in my purpose. To grow. To change. To create space for God to work.
Most importantly, for me, it’s a tangible record of how I taste and see that the Lord is good. It’s a timeline of His faithful presence…his footsteps alongside my own. It’s a visual balancing of good things in the midst of the darker days.
And each new year I ask God to renew my life with goodness. Psalm 119:40
I’m a curator of sorts. A curator who collects and catalogs God’s footprints through my days – all 365 of them.
As I look over my vision board along the wall of my office, once again I am in awe of how I can trace God’s faithfulness and provision through a year of great change.
It wasn’t something I was always conscious of but I’ve been curating long enough to trust God’s presence even when his footprints aren’t easily visible.
Curating God's footprints in our days helps track the progress of living and balances the emotion of living. Share on XI see him clearly when I look back…
♥ how he shouldered my burdens when I thought I was dragging them alone
♥ how he showed me a different perspective when all I could see was my own
♥ how he whispered new, fresh truth in my heart from the same verse I read day after day
♥ how he challenged me to fight for more, give up more and expect more
♥ how he gave wisdom when needed and offered grace even when I didn’t know I needed it
A vision board helps us anticipate God’s footprints over the desires and goals of our heart. It’s a visual reminder to seek him, to delight in him and to anticipate his active, sovereign presence.
This year, my vision board had a face-lift – I gathered pictures, quotes and scriptures to help me visualize my main goals for the year just as I have with past boards. But using Canva gave me a cleaner look and a fresh canvas to group each goal with specific actions. I chose my word for the year along with scriptures to memorize and pictures to reinforce this word and combined it with another goal.
My vision board (although not all is shown below) consists of 6 pages which I printed and posted in my office. Using Canva allowed me to print a copy for home and another to keep in my daily agenda.
I absolutely love it, and if you’re looking for a fresh, creative way to vision board 2019, why not give it a try!
